Data Analyst for Spatial and Environmental Economics
Presentation
DASEE is a 2 year, course-based, full time international research Master’s Degree focused is a high-quality two-year program that offers an integrated view on urban/regional and environmental issues from an economic perspective, with a particular focus on georeferenced data management and analysis. It aims at training future researchers and managers in local development.
The Master’s program allows international mobility for the research internships that can be done in partner universities (Spain, United States, Canada).
Job openings
The master’s program will provide the students with a portfolio of academic and practical skills. They will include the ability to conduct research in spatial economics, environmental economics and spatial data analysis either individually or as part of a team through research design, data collection, analysis, synthesis and reporting. They will also include managerial skills relating to the interaction with other people. With the expertise that the students will develop in data analysis applied to spatial and environmental economics, various career perspectives await the students in academics, urban planning and local development agencies, data science agencies. Students will be encouraged to perform a PhD after the master degree.
Selection criterion
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (180 ECTS) in economics or a Bachelor Degree or equivalent that includes a strong component in economics. Those having completed a Master’s Degree or equivalent (240 ECTS) related to economics can apply directly to the 2nd year.
Candidates for whom English is not their mother tongue or who haven’t done their studies in English will have to give a certificate to attest of their English level.
Once the application file is considered as “complete”, several criteria will be taken into account for the selection:
- the university level (grades)
- a strong interest for the sector adds value to your file. This interest can be shown by an experience in this field (internship, project, and experiences) and/or explained in the cover letter. This will be even more important if you are planning to take your studies back or change your field of study.
- the professional project

Fees & Scholarship
Due to a reform in French higher education system, implemented in 2019, international students who are not citizen of a country inside European economic area or Switzerland who register for the first time in a French higher education course will have to pay specific fees (equivalent to one third of the real cost of the formation). This amount equals 3 770€ for a Master or PhD.
Fellowship grants (up to 800 € per month, during up to 10 months) are awarded each year to high quality foreign students, by the University of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (25 grants in 2018). They can also have access to a wide range of funding programs (Grants from French embassies, AUF bursaries, etc.). The master program will also provide up to 2 grants per year.
Foreign students (outside of EU) will have to justify a minimum of financial resources to obtain their VISA: at least 615€ for every months spent in France (10 months). For more information, you can visit the Campusbourses website:
